Obernik Family 1950s

Our Story

Our Sovar story begins over 81 years ago, back in 1941, when our founder Gustaf (Nicky) Obernik, took his family on a weekend break to Killarney to visit the famous Gap of Dunloe. Gustaf was surprised to see the volume of visitors that were attracted to this beautiful landmark and he started to explore the idea of designing and manufacturing Irish jewellery inspired by Ireland’s rich history and heritage. Read more

Each piece of Solvar jewellery is individually designed, drawing inspiration from Ireland’s rich heritage and unique icons such as the Claddagh, the Celtic Knot, the Shamrock, the Harp and the Celtic Cross.

Our master designers have carefully crafted these icons into timeless pieces of jewellery to continue this rich cultural legacy. We design and create our Celtic and Irish inspired jewellery pieces with love and care in Dublin and deliver worldwide.

Discover the stories behind each Irish symbol. Irish stories, symbols, art and heritage have always been our passion and our inspiration, ever since that long ago visit to Killarney, which was the inspiration to create beautiful jewelry pieces based on Celtic and Irish culture. When you buy Solvar, you are getting a little piece of historic Dublin and Ireland, from our family to yours.
